#Loveyourself
My first ever hashtag challenge starting Monday 24th May. It’s all about YOU. More importantly, learning to accept and love YOU! Yes you, mama! I hope you join in the giggles and also spread the love…. Don’t forget to tag me and also use the hashtag #louisapeacockphotochallenge. I’ll then share the photos you upload to my Instagram story or grid. The Rules are down below… Read on for the full picture.
‘Not enough’
Do you ever feel that you’re not good enough? That you’re an imposter? That you don’t really belong to this way of doing things, or that…
Me too.
I came from a very loving family growing up, but I always felt like I was never good enough. I was always striving for 100% perfection. Achieving 9 out of 10 at school, in my book, was a failure – why didn’t I get that extra point?
Through my baby and family photography I explore the concept of:
– perfection
– of ‘being enough’
– of belonging.
You might worry that you aren’t the right size or ‘look’ for a photoshoot. Or you worry your kids will misbehave. Or dread that your baby will be one crying throughout the shoot.
Hear this:
* There’s no such thing as the ‘right size or look’.
* All kids misbehave; it would be weird if they didn’t.
* All babies cry. It’s my job to help soothe them.
You DO belong
My photography is about saying: – YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH, YOU ARE WORTH IT, YOU ARE ACCEPTED. All types welcome.
I’m starting this hashtag challenge as a way of saying: Hey! Us mums are perfect just the way we are. Because we are and we need to celebrate that more and stop heaping on the mum guilt.
Also I’ve started it on 24th May for a special reason. It’s exactly one week before I turn the big 4-0.
I wanted to celebrate this point in my life by trying to learn to live totally as myself, without the need to over-please others or get others’ approval for what I love and do. It’s kind of my way of saying happy birthday to myself.
Louisa xoxo
P.S. Many mamas-to-be who I photograph say they leave my studio feeling body confident and more empowered than when they went in. They are buzzing after putting themselves into the limelight and allowing themselves to enjoy their bodies. This is a huge compliment for me.
