2. The Photoshoot
The photoshoot experience is just that; an experience which is relaxed, memorable and above all, fun.
From the moment you arrive, I’ll make you feel at ease with a lovely hot drink and a slice of cake (all new mums need cake, right?!). When you’re ready, I’ll cuddle and gently rock your baby in my arms until he falls asleep and is ready to be photographed.
My photoshoots are COVID-compliant; the room is well ventilated and deep cleaned after every session. I also wear a face mask and gloves, with my hair tied back throughout the photoshoot as well as fresh, clean clothes that I have not worn outdoors and are only used for that session.
The session is very much baby-led, if he needs changing, feeding or a cuddle I allow plenty of time to make this happen so the shoot never feels rushed or uneasy. Often I don’t start photographing until at least half an hour after you arrive, so that the baby can settle into his new environment gradually.
I typically start photographing babies on the blanket bed first, using the colours and textures we’ve talked about in the Consultation stage, moving to the floor and backdrops a little later in the session. We’ll also do some flattering ‘parent shots’ to make sure we capture this unique moment in time as you form your strong bond with your new baby.
Above all, you can sit back and relax while I run the whole session. I have undergone extensive training in handling newborns safely and being a mum of two, I can reassure you that I am confident holding and posing babies with their comfort and safety at the forefront of my mind.
