How it works
The minute you walk through the doors of my lovely studio, part of my home in Muswell Hill (very near to Highgate Woods), you’ll feel at ease. It’s definitely a home-from-home, there are two sofas here for you to relax on and I have all the things you might need, from baby wipes to toys for older kids.
Typically a newborn photoshoot lasts around 2-3 hours and the session is entirely baby-led. If she needs to feed, have a cuddle with mum, or have her nappy changed, that’s fine. Baby is the star of the show and as an award-winning baby photographer, London I’ll fit around your child.
Before you get to my studio we’ll have a consultation about what you’d like to do with your images – I am a ‘full service studio’ so I plan and design for the end result, whether that be a beautiful piece of wall art or a keepsake photo album.
You’re so welcome here
You’ll feel like you really belong at my studio, it’s a calm and relaxing, COVID-secure environment – in fact, some sleep-deprived parents have taken a quick nap during the photoshoot!
When you arrive, I’ll ask you to feed your baby and when he’s ready, I’ll cuddle him and get to know him a bit.
After your experience, you’ll be invited back to my studio to view your images on the big screen, cinema-style. I’ll bring the popcorn, you bring yourselves!

FAQs
How long does a newborn photoshoot take?
Typically a newborn session can take two to three hours. I want to make sure your baby is well settled before we do any actual photographing. So if he needs a long feed, or a nappy change or just a cuddle, we build this into the time. There will be plenty of time for you to grab a cup of tea and recharge while your little miracle is being photographed.
What do I need to bring?
Anything that you normally take out and about when going out with your new baby! I appreciate for many of you this might be the first outing since hospital- so I’d pack a bag the night before full of spare nappies, bottles and formula milk if using, spare dummies if using, muslins, wet wipes and a change of clothes for Baby.
If you forget something don’t worry, I have spare nappies, wipes, breast pads and so on here.
What should I dress Baby in?
A lot of my photography is plain, neutral and simple – ‘less is more’ – so she won’t need any OTT outfits or props.
As soon as Baby is ready I’ll undress her down to her nappy and wrap her in one of my soft, cotton wraps so she’s nice and warm.
Can I park onsite?
Yes I have free, designated parking right outside my studio in Muswell Hill, which is very near Highgate Woods. You can either park here (I’m behind a gated entrance for extra privacy) or on the road outside, which has free parking all the time.
I will help you carry Baby or any other things into my studio. (I know how much stuff you need to bring anywhere with a new baby so I’m on hand to help!)
Can I bring older siblings?
Yes of course! I offer two types of photoshoot – one for just newborns and one for newborns plus siblings and parents (a newborn family shoot). The family photoshoot is a great way to mark the special bonds and connections you feel together as you grow your family and it’s also a great way to help the older one feel involved and special.
Can I take a baby out to a photoshoot so young?
Many of my babies come to me between 5-10 days old. This is often the first time new parents have left the house with their baby. I appreciate the big deal this is and can assure you my studio is deep cleaned between each baby session, the room is well ventilated and I am vaccinated against all the routine NHS vaccinations including coronavirus.
I treat the baby’s hygiene and safety extremely importantly, I have a laundry bin onsite to dispose of soiled nappies and used wipes and make sure my hands are repeatedly sanitised, tying my hair back and wearing a mask.
Have you undergone baby safety training?
I have photographed over 100 babies and new mums often remark how good I am with newborns. I have undergone extensive industry training on how to handle and photograph a baby safely and follow every precaution when it comes to putting baby’s safety first.
As a mum of two, I know what the whirlwind experience of having a new baby is like. Those first few days go by in a flash and you’re kind of in a baby fog. You can trust me to look after your child as if its my own.
I’ve not done any photoshoots before. What’s it like at Louisa Peacock Photography?
I’ve tried to think of everything so that your newborn photoshoot is truly a wonderful, memorable experience – a lovely morning out for mama and baby or the whole family as you celebrate this amazing, fleeting time in your life. Capture the moment before it’s gone forever!
What are you doing to keep the studio as safe as possible amid COVID?
Of course, you’re right to be worried about bringing a baby or child into an indoor environment. Often I’m the first person new mums and dads come to see with their newborn baby, after they’ve arrived home from the hospital. And I want you to know I’m taking all the precautions I can to keep you and your little one safe.
I have always taken hygiene and cleanliness extremely seriously. You have to, working with babies, and being a mum myself, I know first hand how important this is. Please see my blog on what I’m doing specifically to keep my studio as clean as it can be so that you can rest assured you’ll be bringing your baby to a safe photoshoot.
